Your impact

Kids are unstoppable. Our mission is to help them stay that way. Proceeds from Words & Wisdom will support Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU and ensure our team is able to continue to provide hope and healing to every child who comes through our doors–kids like Jada.

After being diagnosed with renal dysplasia and only one working kidney at age 2, Jada found out she would need a kidney transplant at age 6. Her dad, Kwame, was a match, and Jada became one of our team’s first pediatric kidney transplant recipients.

Now 16, Jada comes to CHoR every three months to have her kidney function checked.

For kids waiting for a transplant, Jada offered some advice.

“There is nothing to be afraid of,” she said. “You will be greatly supported by nurses and doctors, and they all will treat you with love and respect.”
